You Don't Have to Ditch the Day Job...

Here are seven tips on how to launch a successful Internet outfit without leaving your desk:

  1. You need a co-founder and some cheerleaders.

  2. Pick a day or two per week when you always work, ideally in the same room as your co-founder(s).

  3. Have a boat-burning target.

  4. Pick an idea that is tractable.

  5. Understand that your first version will not be great.

  6. Spend extra time getting smarter about the stuff you don't know.

  7. Be sure you own your startup.

Full-page screenshots

Weather1.com
superscreenshot.com is a free website that produces full screenshots of any website you give it. It produces a full screenshot, not just the topmost, visible section. It actually produces the full page. It takes about a minute, so be patient. You get a choice of jpg or png. The png is much better quality.

Here's a wide variety of music remixes that are definitely worth a listen - especially if you like the upbeat, remix style of music. Varied artists are represented, so you'll likely find some new artists to appreciate.

Car interfaces, gauges and speedometers...

How have they changed through the years? Here's an interesting article with lots of photos. The concept car clusters are very interesting... Although, I must admit the 2010 Mustang cluster looks odd with the mix of back-lit 'analog' gauges...

U.S. Flag screensaver - updated

It's been about 5 years since I updated this screensaver. I kept the old versions around, in-case someone still wants them. The new version (Version 3), supports any resolution and also supports dual monitors. Although, the newer version doesn't have quite the customized speed options as the old versions had.
Oh, and it's still FREE. Donations accepted... :)

Here's a similar animation of how it looks:

YouSendIt - free, big file transfers

Do you ever encounter the problem of sending large files over the internet? Sometimes it's not your ISP that's limiting, but maybe a family member or client's ISP who limits their e-mail attachment sizes.

YouSendIt comes to the rescue! Free registration and free basic service (up to 100MB files). If you want to files larger than 100MB, there's a small fee. This is a great service. I've used it countless times for family, friends and clients.

No software to install - just use your web browser. Easy. They also have plug-ins for popular programs such as Outlook, Acrobat, Photoshop, MS Office, etc.

Explore, create and share color themes...for free

Kuler is a program from Adobe that's free and in its final release. It's a Web-based application, so there's nothing to download.
You can create "color themes", color palettes, etc, and save them online or download them as swatches to use in your Adobe applications. You can view the most popular color themes that others have created and download theirs, too. What's really cool is you can create a color palette from a photograph - easily.
